DHI Hair Transplant — Direct Hair Implantation

Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) represents the most advanced evolution of hair transplant technology. Unlike conventional FUE, where recipient channels are pre-created before graft placement, DHI uses a patented Choi Implanter Pen to simultaneously create the recipient site and implant the follicle in a single motion. This eliminates the need for separate channel creation, reducing tissue trauma and allowing for greater control over implantation angle, depth and direction.

The Choi pen features a hollow needle (0.6–1.0 mm) that is pre-loaded with an individual follicular unit by a trained technician. The surgeon then places each graft directly into the scalp with a single click, achieving exceptional precision. A team typically uses 6–8 Choi pens in rotation, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.

Advantages Over Traditional FUE

DHI offers several distinct advantages: shorter time outside the body for each graft (improving survival rates), no need to shave the recipient area in many cases, greater density in the implanted zone, and reduced bleeding during the procedure.
